— The Orphaned System Problem

A solar system can outlive the company that installed it.

Solar panels are built to last 25 years or more. A lot of the companies that installed them weren't. When your installer closes, files for bankruptcy, or simply stops answering the phone, you're left with a working investment on your roof and no one to call when something goes wrong.

The good news: an orphaned system is almost always fixable. The key is understanding what you've actually lost — and what's still protected.

Usually intact

Your equipment warranties — panels, inverters, optimizers — are held by the manufacturers, not your installer. These typically remain valid even after the company that sold you the system is gone.

What you lose

Your workmanship warranty, service, and monitoring all came from the installer. When they close, that support disappears — and some manufacturers won't honor equipment claims unless a qualified, licensed contractor does the work.

— Who Solar Rescue Is For

Was your system installed by a company that's no longer around?

Dozens of residential solar installers have closed or filed for bankruptcy in the last few years. If you recognize any of these names on your contract — or your installer has simply gone quiet — we can help.

— What We Do

Everything it takes to get your system back online

One licensed crew handles the diagnosis, the repair, and the paperwork — so you're not bouncing between a defunct installer, a manufacturer, and your utility.

SolarEdge Authorized

SolarEdge warranty claims, processed in-house

We're a SolarEdge-authorized service provider — which means if your orphaned system runs SolarEdge inverters or optimizers, we can process the warranty claim (RMA) and handle the replacement directly. No waiting on a closed installer, no dead-end manufacturer hotline. For systems on other brands, we identify your valid warranties and manage the manufacturer claim on your behalf.

Full system assessment

We inspect your panels, inverter, wiring, and connections to find out exactly what's working, what's failed, and what it'll take to fix it.

Monitoring reconnection

Lost access to your production data when the app or portal went dark? We get your monitoring back online so you can see what your system is actually doing.

Inverter & panel repair

Failed inverter, dead optimizers, or panels offline? Our licensed electricians diagnose and repair the electrical side properly — to code.

Re-permitting & inspection fixes

Was your system never properly permitted or signed off? We can address open permits and inspection issues left behind by the original installer.

Ongoing service & support

Once you're back online, you've got a local team to call. We can take over routine maintenance and be there for the next 25 years — not just this repair.

— Why Heliotek

Why orphaned systems belong with an electrician

An orphaned solar system is, at its core, an electrical system on your house. It should be serviced by people who do this for a living — not a sales outfit.

Master electricians

Every job is performed by licensed electricians and signed off by our master electrician. The same credentials that keep manufacturer warranties valid keep your home safe.

Local, and here to stay

The companies that orphaned these systems chased volume across the country. We're a New England electrical contractor — the team that fixes it is the team that answers when you call next year.

Transparent pricing

We start with an assessment, then give you a clear written quote before any repair work begins. Every cost is spelled out up front — no hidden fees, no surprises.

— FAQ

Orphaned solar, answered

My solar installer went out of business. Is my system still under warranty?
It depends on which warranty. Your equipment warranties — panels, inverters, optimizers — are held by the manufacturers, not your installer, so those typically remain valid even after the company that sold you the system closes. What you usually lose is the workmanship and service coverage your installer provided, plus your monitoring and point of contact. We assess what equipment warranties you still have and help you put them to use.
Can you service a system installed by Freedom Forever, SunPower, or another company that closed?
Yes. We service orphaned solar systems regardless of who originally installed them — including systems from Freedom Forever, SunPower, Sunnova, ADT Solar, Lumio, Titan Solar Power, PosiGen, or any local installer that has stopped answering. We start with a full system assessment and give you a clear written quote before any work begins.
Can you handle my warranty claim?
For SolarEdge equipment, yes — we're a SolarEdge-authorized service provider, so we can process SolarEdge inverter and optimizer warranty claims (RMAs) in-house and handle the replacement directly. For other manufacturers, we identify the valid warranties on your equipment and manage the manufacturer claim process on your behalf, so you're not left chasing it alone.
Will having a new company work on my system void the warranty?
Some manufacturers require that a qualified, properly licensed contractor perform any service in order to keep equipment warranties intact — which is exactly why an orphaned system should be serviced by licensed electricians, not a handyman. Our work is done by licensed electricians, signed off by a master electrician, performed to code, and properly permitted where required.
What does a Solar Rescue assessment cost?
We begin with an assessment to see exactly what your system needs, then give you a clear written quote before any repair work is done. Because orphaned systems vary so much — from a simple monitoring reconnection to a failed inverter or wiring issue — we price the actual work once we know what's involved. Every cost is explained up front, with no hidden fees.
Do you serve my area?
We serve all six New England states — Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. If you have an orphaned or unsupported solar system anywhere in the region, give us a call.
